Diona McLucas

With over 25 years of experience as an educator in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, Diona McLucas has been privileged to work with students, teachers and families in a variety of K-12 settings. She has served as a classroom teacher, Student Support Services Coordinator, Program Manager, Curriculum Development Writer, Summer Acceleration Academy Site Leader, and Instructional Coach. Currently, Diona serves as a Literacy Coach for an elementary school in DC Public Schools. She is a proud Native Washingtonian with a demonstrated track record of success with students labeled as “at-risk” or “underachieving”. Diona attributes the use of high expectations, love and patience to be central in her success with students. Identified as a Highly Effective Master Educator, she passionately believes in the integration of quality social emotional learning with rigorous, relevant instructional experiences to truly educate the whole child. It is Diona’s goal to use her professional knowledge, experience, and expertise to advocate for all children and families in all school communities to receive a quality education that is truly student-centered and meets the varied needs of all of our children.
